Canada is made up of five geographic regions, the atlantic provinces, central canada, the prairies, the west coast, and the northern territories. The cordillera is located on the west coast of canada and it also includes british columbia the yukon, southwest alberta and part of north west territories.

That is how the western cordillera was formed. In the interior and western systems, some landforms have been produced by volcanic processes. The western cordillera was formed when the larger pacific plate converged with the smaller north american plate. Since the north american plate is smaller it went on top of the pacific plate. The western cordillera has a maritime climate. Summers are cool by comparison to the rest of the country, and winters being short, makes the growing season last from only april to mid october.
